For years many patients have remarked on the building where my rooms are located, and plied me with questions I was unable to answer. So, I decided to commission the University of Newcastle History Department to create a series of posters on the history of Croudace House. These posters will hang in the upstairs corridor and waiting area, so that patients and visitors can inform themselves while waiting. They are not meant to be exhaustive. They are meant to provide a brief glimpse into the original owner of the House, Thomas Croudace (one of Lambton's most prominent citizens), and to the main subsequent uses of the House to the present day. I want to thank Dr Ann Hardy of the University of Newcastle, who supervised the project, and to the many people (some of whom are my patients) who contributed. Special mention needs to be made of the author of the wall-hangings, Thomas Sharples, who spent many hours researching and creating these posters. Here is a link to a blog Tom wrote while researching the project. I aslo include a link to an article on Thomas Croudace by Lachlan Wetherall. The links below will take you to each of the posters.
